Levi Strauss Closes Last Two American Sewing Plants


Only two decades ago, it had 63 U.S. manufacturing plants.

This spring Levi will shutter its three remaining company-owned plants in Canada, completing the shift to contract production in China and other countries with far cheaper labor.

el - This was foreseeable as soon as they made a deal with Walmart and got new management more interested in marketing the brand. The classic American brand now made in China. I am not utterly opposed to globalization, it provides cheaper goods and they are usually the basic goods that people need. There just needs to be a means for people to earn a living to pay for the cheap goods.
