See The Howard Dean Video Shot From The Floor

There are several versions of this letter I am spreading so people can judge for themselves if the media attacks on Dean's Iowa rally were fair.

See The Howard Dean Video Shot From The Floor

Much has been made about Howard Dean in his speech on Tuesday night after the Iowa Caucuses. But how much is due to the camera angle and a sound mike that cancels the crowd noise?

Over and over, television and radio shows played it and implied or stated outright that Governor Dean had lost his mind (or never had it).

What you may have seen or heard on TV/radio was shown in such a way that it sounded like Howard Dean was a raving lunatic.

But that's only half of the story.

What they failed to capture, almost all media, was the crowd.

Fortunately, in the day and age of video cameras, a member in the audience that night also took footage, which you can see here:

A different two minutes altogether. Note this is volunteer footage, I doubt if the Dean campaign would add the title bookends.

More, from someone who was there - 20 feet from the stage.

"People were shouting the whole time -- shouting at the top of their lungs, whistling, and clapping. Some were even using megaphones.

"Flags were waving, pompons were shaking, and feet were stomping to the point that it was deafening. There were probably over 1000 people elbow to elbow in that room that night.

"The crowd was so unbelievably loud I could barely hear myself think, let along hear what Howard was saying.

"Trust me -- it was DEAFENING.

"The media filtered OUT the crowd -- probably done with the intention of capturing what Howard said clearly!, but that also meant that inadvertently all you heard was Howard and not who and what Howard was responding to. I saw his mouth moving, but I could only guess what he was saying most of the time. He was responding to us and to our shouts and our energy. "

But can you take her word for it?

I suggest that you watch the video and see what close to 2,000 people saw -- and could barely hear because the noise was deafening in the room.

I urge you to visit this website, view the footage and judge for yourself.

Lately I have also been editing it down more to make it more email friendly, just the facts.
