To hear the nearly 200 senior citizens gathered at the Patchogue firehouse yesterday, there are two groups in trouble for supporting the newly passed Medicare prescription drug bill: the members of Congress who voted for it, and the AARP, its major promoter.

It takes what has been a defined benefit and turns it into a variable benefit, with a variable cost, where seniors will be given a voucher to shop for a prescription drug benefit," Bishop said. "It is for that reason I voted against it."
