Risky E-Vote System to Expand
Researchers warned last week that an Internet voting system designed for Americans overseas to use in the November presidential election should be scrapped -- because Internet insecurities could compromise the election.
An incident in Canada last year underscores that risks associated with online voting are real.
Last January, voting at Canada's New Democratic Party convention in Toronto was interrupted by a denial-of-service attack aimed at shutting down the election. An Internet worm hit computers around the world the same day, slowing traffic.
