Why Bush can't invade Iraq because we feel they are not obeying surrender terms.
He also cannot legally invade for more than 60 days without asking Congress. Of course, he denies the constitutionality of the War Powers Act, which was legislated to preserve the constitution which grants war declaring authority to Congress.
Bush spends over 40% of his time at his leisure destinations.
From Jay Leno: President Bush is getting ready for his one-month vacation in Texas. Although he’ll be golfing, fishing and riding horses the White House is saying that this is not a vacation. Do you get the feeling that President Bush’s definition of vacation came from the same dictionary as Clinton’s definition of sex? Is there some White House dictionary?
The State Department has put together a list of gifts that President George W. Bush has received since taking office. The first gift – the election I believe.
A sharp decline in the moral tone of the Presidency. "The "new tone" that George W. Bush brought to Washington isn't one of integrity, but of permissiveness." How many people would have had to resign under any other President?
Caught another television "news" right-wing nut show recently. They were repeating the false anti-Muslim charges that Muslims have been silent in condemning the 9/11 attacks. They also had the Christian nutcase on who says that Islam is a war-mongering intolerant religion. I had previously blogged from Rebecca Knight the Carville rebuke of these attacks. I had neglected to credit her as the source.
Rebecca Knight also writes: "It does not surprise me that Bush believes he can attack Iraq without the approval of Congress. This man has seized the presidency without the vote, he has overturned civil rights and civil liberties, he has drained the coffers for personal gain, he has forced a personal agenda with no thought for the citizens of this country, he has alienated our country and reduced our stature in the world. He is an abomination and it's time that Americans realize that because of Dumbya we no longer have a free and just country, democracy died the day he, with the help of SCOTUS [Supreme Court], stole the election."
Right-wing shows, Christian shows and Republican office holders are faxed and emailed messages everyday as to the daily script and spin. There are some well-organized groups orchestrating the news for conservatives. Unfortunately I don't have a good link with more information now. You can check out Spinsanity that tries to point out the spin from all sides and Talking Points Memo often goes into what is currently going out..
Abraham Lincoln said in 1864, "I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country ... corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign ... until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed."
Another cool guy quote this time from Frank Zappa: "Republicans stand for raw, unbridled evil and greed and ignorance smothered in balloons and ribbons."
A Wisconsin opinion on the Bush lack of administration: "Would it be a stretch to use adjectives such as mind-numbingly inept, politically bankrupt, or intellectually vacuous in describing American foreign policy, a policy seemingly cribbed from a collection of Little Golden Books?"
Finally some good news. A newspaper permanently canned Ann Coulter's column. They even had an editorial saying it was because she had become a hate-monger who trashed people just because she disagreed with them.
