Which Political Brand Would You Buy?

TIME has an interesting analysis on American politics today.

Shorter Joe Klein - Populists (Party of Passion) and moderate top businessmen (Party of Sanity) feel unrepresented by the two parties today.

The GOP has done the best job of getting support from elements of these two disaffected groups. In national elections Democrats are prone to select East Coast professionals who get some support from the "Sanity Party" but not enough national support. Even Dr. Dean is a populist-leaning member of this Eastern professional class.

The fact that Klein calls the concerns of elitist businessmen the "Party of Sanity" reflects Time's political bias. David Sirota has a good take on this and Klein's Elitist Party of Insanity.
