I have to say I'm a bit puzzled. Bush is the same person he was last year. The budget outlook is the essentially the same as it was last year, for those of us who were paying attention. The only "new" thing is the Medicare drug bill, but Bush had supported that so that wasn't anything really new either. I suppose the excellent Iraq adventure didn't give them the healthy post-coital glow they thought it would, but none of them will really admit to that. So, what's the deal? Not much has changed, except for the relentlessness and duration of Bush's failures, which has led to a widespread sense of Bush Fatigue.
Although the syndrome first struck in the blue states, like New York, California, and Florida, it is now affecting Americans all across the ideological and political spectrum.
Bush Fatigue. It's exhausting for a liberal to fight the Bush regime's policy failures on all fronts, its secrecy, and its retaliation against dissenters. But it's equally exhausting for a conservative to continue defending it, with the knowledge hat ultimately they will ending up looking like a faith-based dupe. (It was once much easier before, when there was no accountability because the public and media had been terrorized into a state of unprecedented gullibility and obedience.)
The only people still happy about the Bush White House occupation are the major contributors/friends of Poppy who have reaped handsome financial rewards: war profiteers like Halliburton and corrupt corporate criminals.
