Texas District 143 Democrats tapping GOP donors

The Chronicle has repeated some research I did on donors. Questions are being raised about the funding sources for the two leading Democrats in the state representative race. The favored Ana Hernandez has received $10,000 from Bob Perry, a millionaire home builder who spent millions buying the state legislature previously. Bob Perry also help start the Swift Boat Liars campaign. The other leading contender, Laura Salinas, has reported $65,000 from Texans for Lawsuit Reform, a lobby that got the $250,000 limit on the non-economic value of a human life and pain and suffering. A resident in the district has so far received about 20 expensive mailers from the various candidates. Six Democrats are vying for the seat with a runoff expected.
