Blog Sisters are blogging about the 34 Million Friends Campaign where there is a spontaneous movement to replace the $34 million the Bush administration pulled from the UN Population fund. This funding was killed by Bush to please some religious conservative groups that don't like family planning.

As of 20 December, UNFPA has received $155,257.00 in support so it has a ways to go to make up for that Bush decision.

Somewhat related, I volunteered as a Christmas gift wrapper at Barnes and Noble to raise funds for the Afghan Women's Mission. I later found out that some conservatives are leary of this group, this makes me prouder.
