When asked, he said he had to make a statement because several people had spoken to him and compared the United States to the forces opposing Mordor. He was sorry, but he felt the United States is acting more like Mordor. Elijah Wood agreed that people aren't questioning the rush to war enough. Director Peter Jackson stayed out of politics and just discussed the film.
