Newsday.com - Democracy makes strides in 2002, despite global threats, survey says

"While some repressive governments use the global war on terrorism to justify crackdowns on peaceful political opponents, the survey's findings suggest that, overall, the world has not seen a serious erosion of human rights since Sept. 11, 2001," said Adrian Karatnycky, president of Freedom House, which conducted the study, titled "Freedom in the World 2002."

Note that Freedom House is a neoconservative organization according to Public Eye and consistently rates left government harsher than right governments.

More far out is the claim that Freedom House is dominated by the Council on Foreign Relations, the U.S. branch of the Illuminati, its British counterpart being the Royal Institute of International Affairs.
