NYTimes -- U.S. Demands for Help Roil Turkey's Government

Officials of Turkey's recently elected government said in interviews this week that they had missed deadlines set for them by American officials eager for a Turkish commitment, and that they were weighing how far to go in helping the United States.

"Everybody knows that 80 to 85 percent of the Turkish people would say no to war in Iraq," said Cuneyd Zapsu, a senior adviser to Mr. Erdogan. "As a democratic country, how can we say yes?"

This administration is going to push for war in January but Rove domestically and Powell internationally are going to have to pull rabbits out of their hats.
