The "Official News Page" and My Problem
The Defense department has a website for daily civilian orientated news about the war on terrorism. They have classified the Iraq operation as part of this war on terrorism.

One of the interesting things on the site is where you can sign a generic note sending thanks to serviceman for defending our freedom.
I haven't signed it yet - I support our military, my nephew is in it, but this administration is not defending our freedom, it is taking it away.
I also don't think this Iraq operation will defend my freedom.
My favorite book is Time Enough For Love. At the end, the main character travels back in time to just before the first World War - "the war to end all wars." He meets his ancestors but is kicked out of the house for protesting the coming war, he knows it won't solve anything and it will lead to greater conflicts. After being upset and stewing about it for a time he enlists. He explains that once the US declares war you put aside your differences and support the country and your fellow citizens who are fighting. (He was also trying to get back the respect of members of his family, which spoils my point a bit.)
But we haven't even declared war, and, in fact, there is growing sentiment to repeal the resolution that was signed. I would like to support the US government but presently it has lost my respect. When the bullets and bombs start flying will I put aside my disdain for this President - no, but I will do what I can to support our military personal.
Shit, Bush 2 - worst American President in history.
