A Quiet Victory

Senate Cancels Columbian Fumigation

Sen. Phil Grahm offered an amendment to re-instate the full amount of spending for the Andean Initiative. It was soundly defeated 27-72!!!

...Feingold and Wellstone wrote an amendment mandating that fumigation cannot occur until alternative development has been delivered. It sounds so reasonable (because it is) that many senators may not have realized that it will require major changes in the current implementation of aerial eradication campaigns. They managed to get the amendment passed without any controversy!

This anti-drug spraying has poisoned thousands of people.
