A Very Different Military Operation
Special Operations Units Already in Iraq (washingtonpost.com)
This is going to be a very different military operation this time. We plan to take the country and install an acceptable government.
I still do not support this war at this time in this way but perhaps because the US created Saddam Hussein we have a moral obligation to get rid of him.
I am worried about that argument because there are other undesirable countries that you could say US actions were responsible for creating. Where does correcting bad mistakes stop?
In any case, Iraq poses no present danger and Bush has not made the case of why we have to get rid of him now. The lack of international support tells how weak his case is.
The majority of the people in England and Australia, the only countries committed to sending troops, are also opposed to going in without UN support which we will have to do.
The US is in the worst diplomatic position in history. At a time we should have everyone supporting, Bush has squandered and tossed away international support.
I agree with Helen Thomas - this president is the worst in our history.
