Scoop: Ed Henry: Silent War.. The Bomb Is In The Treasury

The U.S. has reached debt limit, may be selling stocks and bonds. Debt going up by over $500 million a day, before the war and new tax cuts.

“Republicans are not making the hard choices this time around.

"Instead, they will vote for two bills at virtually the same time that are going to dig the budget deficit hole deeper: One bill to raise the debt ceiling by hundreds of billions and one bill to cut taxes by hundreds of billions.

“ The idea of ‘raising the debt limit’ sounds like meaningless policy jargon. But its consequences are easily grasped by all Americans: We will now be forced to place a ‘debt tax’ on our children to pay off this debt in the future. It is the equivalent of racking up credit card debt and sticking your kids with the bill,” -- House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) -- The Hill

March on March 15 to Stop Countdown to War

Edwards

“A Ken doll is plastic, lacking in substance and can be bought for about $10. There’s at least one difference right there.”
— Sen. John Edward (D-N.C.) engaging in some self-deprecatory humor as the Democratic speaker at the spring Gridiron Club dinner, challenge a columnist’s suggestion that he was nothing more than a Ken doll.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich - It's About The Oil

Although Dennis Kucinich was aggressively attacked by Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen for suggesting that the preemptive strike on Iraq was based on oil, the Post refused to print the presidential candidate and Ohio Democrat's response. This was especially frustrating, since the Post editorial stance and balance of editorial page columns have been decidedly pro-war. You can tell the Post how you feel about this ommission at ombudsman@washpost.com.

Is President Bush's war in Iraq about oil? Of course it is. Sometimes, the obvious answer is the right one: Oil is a major factor in the President's march to war, just as oil is a major factor in every aspect of U.S. policy in the Persian Gulf.

Presidential candidate and Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) is the ranking Democrat on the House Subcommittee on National Security, Emerging Threats, and International Relations. Visit www.kucinich.us.
