BBC Confirms US Preparing To Take Baghdad Airport

US forces say they are taking up positions outside Baghdad international airport and are preparing to fight for it, in what could be a crucial first battle for control of the city.

Members of the US 3rd Infantry say they have pushed forward to the airport, which lies about 20 kilometres (12 miles) from the centre of the capital, while other US units say they are now just 10 kilometres from the capital.
