Crackdown stuns Cuba watchers, liberal and conservative
Rarely in its turbulent 44 years has Fidel Castro's regime reacted so harshly against so many. What is certain is that Cuba's actions will damage its relations with trading partners, discourage foreign investment, rouse international condemnation and stifle the movement in Congress to ease the U.S. trade embargo of Cuba just when its economy is especially bleak.
