Yellow Times
Yellow Times has had misadventures with its providers since becoming more widely know for its dissenting views. Right now it is up and has a long guest editorial from David Antoon, Col., USAF Ret. about "how the pain of war never goes away."
It is understandable why those relatively few in Washington who know first hand the experiences of war wish to avoid it. Unfortunately, they are too few, and the people in power, who have never experienced those horrors, promote war with reckless naiveté.
I have been moved by Ralph Chaplin's words:
Mourn not the dead.
But rather mourn the apathetic throng---
The cowed and meek
Who see the world's great anguish and its wrong,
And dare not speak.
Those "who see the world's great anguish and its wrong," must speak out. I can no longer remain silent because for me the pain of war never really goes away.
David Antoon is a Vietnam Veteran and retired U.S. Air Force officer, a devoted husband and father who worries about what kind of world his children, and all children, will inherit. The damage to America's reputation and credibility, he fears, will not be repaired in his lifetime. Because he sees "the world's great anguish and its wrong," he feels he must speak out.
Doreen Miller adds more words about the Project for a New American Century (PNAC) and points out that "Rebuilding America's Defenses," written in 1998, called for the removal of first Saddam Hussein and then Kim Jong and mentions Iran as another threat to deal with.
I don't support her call for all the countries in the world to combine and forge military alliances to oppose the imperial ambitions of the United States. I am still somewhat hopeful the full realization of this mad ambitious folly will come to U.S. citizens.
