Howard Dean could help heal America

Letter to the Editor - Tallahassee Democrat

In the presidential race, my major concern is that the Bush administration seems hellbent on shifting our country into a pseudo-religious military-industrial fascism.

It's like America is being dragged into a back alley, assaulted to the point of unconsciousness, and left to die by perpetrators who, in words but not deeds, continue to protest their innocence.

I have never been so frightened for our country. What frightens me most is that too many of us are falling for Bush's simplistic, contradictory rhetoric, and not paying enough attention to the damage he causes.

America needs an intelligent, strong and ethical leader. We need "a doctor in the house" who will first do no harm; who will deftly apply his experience, skill, judgment and compassion to doing what must be done to heal America's wounds and help revive our stolen hope and courage.

Increasingly, I am convinced that Dr. Howard Dean is the best "doctor" for the job that must now be done. I have decided to give him my full support in the upcoming presidential race.
