ABCNEWS.com : U.S. Issues Travel Warning to Venezuela

Non-emergency employees of the U.S. Embassy and their families are being asked to return immediately to the United States. Those traveling in Venezuela are also urged to depart, and those with plans to visit the country are asked to postpone travel plans.

Voice of America seems more moderate in it's rhetoric recently. Previous stories were straight opposition Chavez, that Communist, has got to go.

Fierce anti as well as pro-government demonstrations rocked Venezuela's capital Friday as hundreds of thousands of people took over highways and clogged main thoroughfares.

A pro-government deputy in Venezuela's legislature, Willian Lara says the sentiments expressed by anti-government protesters are not reflective of Venezuelan society as a whole.

Mr. Lara says there is a psychological terrorist campaign being waged against the Venezuelan people by the country's news media. But, he says the campaign has not achieved its goals.

VOA also noted that "striking Venezuelan oil workers remain defiant one day after the country's supreme court ordered them back to work."
