The NewsMexico - Chavez asks Mexico for help, Fox turns down request

Chavez asked Fox to lend him some oil tankers to allow Venezuela to increase oil exports, which have been crippled by a general strike, according to the newspaper, which cited unidentified sources from the Mexican and Venezuelan governments.

Fox reportedly turned down the request, saying all of Mexico's tankers are already rented out to transnational oil companies.

Fox also said it would be risky for Mexico to get directly involved in Venezuela's internal conflicts, according to the daily.

Federal legislators said Fox lacked the Constitutional authority to lend the tankers anyway.
