Fred Kaplan at Slate also thinks that Blair and Russia will go for the compromise denying the U.S. a majority. Will the U.S. be forced to compromise or go alone without any support? Will Bush's new tactic be to work on the language so that Iraq can't meet the new conditions? Will the U.S. simply declare the Security Council deadlocked and attack on its own?
