My position

Fact: Iraq has no nuclear program. It was abandoned after Gulf War 1.

Fact: Iraq had absolutely no connection with 9/11. There has been zero evidence and it is ludicrous to claim this.

Fact: There has been no creditable evidence presented that Iraq has an ongoing chemical or biological weapons program after Gulf War 1. This is harder to verify because these are the cheap poor man's programs. You could become a chemical or biological menace in a year with a few thousand dollars. This being the case it is surprising that no credible evidence was presented by Powell that Iraq had a chemical or biological program.

Fact: Iraq did have chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons programs and even used chemical weapons while Saddam was our ally. We know because we provided most of the training and the supplies. The U.N. inspections were set up to prove he had destroyed the weapons we helped him acquire.

Opinion: I agree with Vice President Cheney when shortly before being elected he urged the U.N. sanctions be lifted because Iraq had complied with the disarmament terms.

I have used this in some emails or postings recently. I am not sorry to see Saddam go but fear we are making the terrorist situation worse, not better, and that the U.S. personal we have to leave in Iraq for years will be objects of terrorist attacks and a recruiting position for terrorists aimed at the United States.
