Video Blogging
I have had fewer posts recently.
I have been watching television news and video blogging.
I was taping The Daily Show for my brother because he did not have cable and it provided the best analysis of Bush policies, and it was funny.
When the war started, I said oh that is interesting and taped a segment of a cable news broadcast. Then I started taping more, particularly from Newsworld International and the BBC which provided viewpoints you can't get on American media. I started doing it more and more noting the differences between the news networks. The British and Canadian had a balanced strategic perspective while the American's went gung-ho for the reality TV experience with embedded journalists. The Fox Network is emotional, opinionated, conservative and just plain stupid quite often. I was surprised that I liked MSNBC the best considering their recent hiring of a radio opionator who is racist, women hating, homophobic and has referred to "turd world" peoples more than once.
A difference with videoblogging and net blogging is that I don't know in advance what will be presented when I hit record. I just take a guess based on what the anchor or lead-in says.
After awhile I realized my nephew might also like a record since he is a ranger in Iraq and won't know what was being reported at home. No sooner had I started to think of recording specifically for him than I believe I saw him standing in line for steak and lobster with the 101st. At least he is not part of the brigade that had the grenade thrower.
I think this could be the future if I had TIVO and a DVD burner.
