Bush and GOP Now Own The Economy and the Deficit
Liberal Oasis has some good points but the good elements of the plan - a family of four earning $50,000 will pay $1,000 less in taxes - may carry the the day in 2004. That should even be enough to pull out of a recession in the short term.
A tax cut without a balanced budget is not a tax cut, it is a tax increase for the future. That is true and is a good slogan but the majority of American voters would rather take the tax cut now and afterwards say now cut spending and balance the budget but let me keep my tax cut. The GOP is sucessfully playing this so that the only way to do that will be to eliminate government social programs and any cuts from a defense and foreign policy program will be from one they have greatly inflated to start with.
I'm afraid someone will have to convince me that Rove hasn't won.
