Democrats Agree to Six to Eight Debates

Representatives of the nine Democratic presidential candidates agreed at a meeting yesterday to conduct six to eight debates between July and the end of the year, campaign officials said.

Leaders of the rival campaigns reached a consensus that the debates should be facilitated by the Democratic National Committee and sponsored by national broadcast media, participants said.
