What Should Dean Do Now?

1. Retool slightly his message - he is the truth candidate for regular people who go to hockey games. He has the guts to take unpopular stands. He is the fiscally conservative candidate unlike the Washington insiders who are creating debt for our children and grandchildren. He is not raising money from special interests but from the people. As a doctor and a governor with the best health care system he knows the best about health care.

2. Run better TV ads. He improved in New Hampshire but they are still not as good as Kerry and Edwards.

3. Counter that scary scream meme. Get the floor video out there. Run against the right-wing media that compare him to Hitler, not against the regular media which is simply uninformed. One secret, a relaxed confident smile. One TV station here when they ran the clip kept the smile on at the end of the yell. What a difference. A much bigger difference is the floor shots.

4. Can he loosen up a little, slow his schedule and get some rest? He needs to appear confident and loose - not tired and harried. He should be loose but watch his mouth. Most of this can be countered by the "people's truth" campaign meme but he needs to be careful of his mouth but less defensive. He can turn the media back on themselves a little -"Do you think we are safer with Saddam captured?" (stop to let the reporter answer) "What is the evidence? I see..."

5. A tall order but he is a great candidate.

What do I know, I am only an unemployed marketing analyst.
