Dean's Lobbyists Are Me and You
Dean is on track for over $750,000 raised today. Kerry still owes millions in money he loaned to himself.
Dean team is happy:
It's already your best fundraising day of the year. You beat the record set during the September to Remember. You broke all kinds of records, too, setting the record for the second biggest fundraising day of the year, bringing in new people, showing your deep, powerful will. And you re-energized all of us to work harder, do more, stay later and fight harder -- to dig down to our deepest reserves and fight for the future of the country.
You just put $700,000 on the air in Wisconsin, the state the Governor must and will win.
Kerry and his supporters meanwhile are talking about why he is not Dukakis.
Representative Barney Frank, Democrat of Massachusetts, argued that Mr. Kerry's background as a decorated veteran and a tough prosecutor also come into play.
"It is hard to demonize as an irresponsible leftist a man who has locked up criminals and shot communists," Mr. Frank said. "That's John Kerry's record. Kerry's cast a couple specific votes that are unpopular, but so has Bush. In general, I like our ground better."
Donkey Rising notes that the DLC has made peace with all the other frontrunners adopting an Anyone but Dean Democratic unity.
