Will Dean Quit If He Doesn't Win Wisconsin?
Probably, JODI WILGOREN thinks so and headlines the story he will Quit if he doesn't.
"We will get a boost this weekend in Washington, Michigan and Maine, but our true test will be the Wisconsin primary. A win there will carry us to the big states of March 2-and narrow the field to two candidates. Anything less will put us out of this race."
Note that doesn't say he will quit but says a non-win will put him out of the race.
More - "All I can say is, we intend to win" the state," he said, declining to elaborate on the middle-of-the-night e-mail.
The latest soundings suggested that would be difficult.
A poll taken for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and The Capital Times, published in Madison, put Kerry's support at 45 percent, compared to Dean at 12, Clark at 11 and Edwards at 6.
FLASH - New York Times changes headline - changes story. Asked by a Wisconsin television station on Wednesday whether he would drop out if he lost there, Dr. Dean said, "No, we've got to be in it for the long haul."
