Gipper, the Talking Points Duck
In an alternate reality Mallard Fillmore is actually funny.
At one time the Houston Chronicle ran Doonesbury on the editorial page. When they acquired the right-wing Mallard they put him on the comics page. It was years before they moved Doonesbury to the comics pages to join Mallard the right wing loon. The Houston Chronicle made a smart decision about that time to have one of the largest if not the largest comics pages in the country.
