The Progressive -- Living Wage Ordinances Work, Conservative Admits

It's not every day that a conservative economist sees the light.

So when David Neumark, an opponent of the minimum wage, came out with a study last week that showed how beneficial living wage ordinances can be, it was worthy of note.

An old article but a good one. I remember even one conservative economics book I got free in college, in the 70's the Conservative tax-free foundations made a big push to educate college students with a stack of free paperbacks, also had good things to say about a fair minimum wage. More recently, opposition to any minimum wage is the one of the hot buttons for most Libertarians and small business owners, claiming they oppose it because it increases unemployment for blacks and unskilled laborers. Sorry, it is the most effective means of getting bottom-of-the-rung workers out of poverty.
