nickdenton.org: Micromanagers on speed
Libertarian hawk is a particularly fashionable political combination, but have you ever noticed the inconsistency? American libertarians put their faith in individuals over governments; they believe that people are best placed to make decisions on their own behalf. But, by people, they mean Americans. If the Venezuelan people elect a dumb populist, or Egyptians yearn for the end of Mubarak, that's a different matter; we have to save them from themselves. And so the bizarre sight of Americans, foes of interfering government at home, turned control freaks abroad, nation-building and dictator-propping around the world like meddling micromanagers on speed.
It was short so I copied it all.
