Eris Dances

"Eris was the personification of strife, discord and hatred. She lurked around the battlefield delighting in the bloodshed and suffering. Because of Eris' disagreeable nature she was the only one of the gods not to receive an invitation to the wedding of Peleus and Thetis. She came anyway and was refused admittance. Furious, she threw a golden apple, inscribed 'To the fairest', among the guests. Three goddesses claimed it and Paris was asked to judge among them. The ultimate result was the Trojan War."

Yesterday Eris would have been dancing for joy. "Confusion, chaos, total befuddlement -- my work here is done!"

I like the reference, in this case a Texas democrat is refering to the 1500-1600 page decision on U.S. campaign finance reform.
