Homeland Security Chief - This May Be A Criminal Investigation

Ft.Worth Star-Telegram -- Amid revelations of more federal involvement in last week's hunt for missing Texas House Democrats, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge told lawmakers Thursday that a review of his agency's involvement might turn into a criminal probe.

"This is now potentially a criminal investigation," Ridge said in response to a Democratic congressman from New Jersey. Ridge also declined again to release audiotapes or transcripts stemming from the search -- which could duplicate materials destroyed by order of the Texas state police last week
