GOP Puts State Politicians In Charge Of Head Start

The vote split along party lines, narrowly winning approval 217-216. Traditionally, Head Start has enjoyed bipartisan support. The Senate hasn't yet acted on the legislation. The Bush administration supports it. Dick Gephardt missed the House vote on the Republican effort which passed by one vote.
