Josh Marshall On The Bush Plan For Iraq

On the homefront, the president is shaping his political campaign around the notion that we shouldn't show weakness and we can't cut and run. Meanwhile, it's clear to pretty much everyone in Iraq that we're doing both.

And they're acting accordingly.

Between the Lines also had the author of "Full Spectrum Dominance: U.S. Power in Iraq and Beyond," on talking about how the new U.S. "Operation: Iron Hammer" was creating more Iraqi civilians willing to take up arms against us. Audio link. Also mentioned is that it has become common for the U.S. military to take hostages to try to leverage targets into surrendering or for them to punish civilians they decide are not providing enough information - both violations of the Geneva Convention.
