Reading Ken MacLeod

I have been reading Ken MacLeod's who is one of the better current crop of SF writers. In fact I am rereading The Cassini Division right now. As a futurist he gives a non-American perspective. His Fall Revolution series explores the future with two main political currents - libertarianism and socialism - combined with high technology and conflicts with artificial intelligence and siliconized humans leading to very different utopias.

He also comments on our current non-utopia in his blog. Sunday he is writing about the US sending people off to be tortured through the airport near him in Scotland.

The Early Days of a Better Nation - The plane. Magpie led me here today.

He is not all politics - he also recently commented on the Big Bang Theory getting more criticism from some scientists.
