Tipler's Omega Point Physics Religion Becomes Overtly Christianity

Frank Tipler created a stir in religious, new age, and physics circles with his Omega Point Theory. This used modern physics to consider the fate of the universe and to propose that in the distant future the descendants of men will recreate everyone who ever lived in a virtual reality. By the time he was through he had both testable scientific hypothesis and a religion.

He has updated his views expressed in this essay, The Omega Point and Christianity, to become more explicitly linked to Christianity. This includes the Trinity, Christ, and miracles.

He comes to this belief because physics has now changed. Scientists have discovered there is an accelerating expanding universe that can never become an Omerga Point.

Rather than invalidate his theory, which seems to be explicitly a religion to him now, he uses this to say that the descendants of man must in the future massively intervene to create the Omega Point. Because his theory was wrong in predicting a closed collapsing universe he must recreate it version II where Jesus's Virgin Birth becomes possible as an example of the future miracles that will change the conditions to create his Heaven.

In his original books The Anthropic Cosmological Principle with John Barrow and The Physics of Immortality : Modern Cosmology, God and the Resurrection of the Dead he stated he was not Christian but he believed in the Ultimate God found at the Omega Point along with the Christian Heaven. Now that a key element of his physics was shown to be incorrect it requires miracles to save it and he becomes a Christian with Jesus as an example of the Omega Point miracles.
