"We're going to spend more on our schools, and we're going to spend it more wisely," remarks on Signing the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, 1/8/02.

"I am going to ask Congress to bolster the first year aid from thirty-three hundred dollars to five thousand one hundred dollars per recipient of the Pell Grant, to encourage children to not only to attended higher education but to complete the first year of higher education. Increasing the Pell Grants — increasing the first year Pell Grant will make college much more affordable for low and middle income students." Bush speech, Hampton, New Hampshire. 8/30/00.

"First and foremost, we got to make sure we fully fund LIHEAP, which is a way to help low-income folks, particularly here in the East, to pay for their high fuel bills," Bush said in the Presidential Debate in Boston, MA, 10/3/00.

"Another priority of the federal government will be to have a Medicare system of which we can be proud, a Medicare system that will include prescription drugs for all seniors." Bush Remarks at Campaign Rally in Pittsburgh, PA, 11/4/00.
