I remain surprised

I am Number 1 on a google search for liberal news.

I see that a lot of sites are now advertising there but I just keep blogging away and stay numero uno.

I hadn't planned for it and was surprised when I discovered it. I have a conservative friend who says it is because I update several times a day.

Having a number of people link to me helps but that isn't the big issue that people think. I have relatively few linkers compared to most bloggers. I haven't yet got organized enough to update my links, I have almost a hundred to add that might get me some more reciprocal links.

Number of hits doesn't count. I was number one when I averaged well under 100 hits a day and under a thousand is still not in the very noticeable range of the blogosphere. I am only coming up to that range almost by accident. I linked to a popular Italian porn star, Aria Giovanni, and Europe started giving me over a hundred hits to that archived page a day. This experience is so odd because Aria is sooo not my type. I would think that people wanting nude pictures of Aria Giovanni would just go here.

I am very happy google keeps me at number one. I would be happier with google if they moved me down a notch but searched all my archives. They are stored by day and google only has 102 of them.

The sponsered links on the left on the google search page are all good but I am sure they would like to be number one without having to pay for it. If and when my hit rate goes above five or ten thousand a day I could charge for linking to them.
