Send reinforcements: U.S. general seeks more troops

U.S. military leaders in Iraq sought up to 10,000 reinforcements and demanded the death or capture of a radical cleric yesterday as troops grappled with continued post-war unrest.

The stepped-up American actions come as President Bush goes prime time tonight to help settle American concerns about mounting casualties and kidnappings.

"The situation in Iraq has improved,'' Bush told reporters yesterday in Texas. "But you're right, it was a tough week.''
