The 10 Regions of US Politics

Beyond Red and Blue -- Interesting map, but of uncertain significance. Within each region there are large areas that split urban, suburban, and rural with different voting patterns. The story starts here and is more useful.

The articles are dismissive of the suburbanites as a useful voting bloc. "The suburbs dominate most of our 10 regions, and are approaching domination in the others. But the suburbs in Northeast Corridor are becoming more Democratic, just as the suburbs in Appalachia are becoming more Republican."

The more you read the articles the more important but controversial this way at looking at the country seems. There is no methodology discussed on how the map was created.
