Dem Debate - Ted Koppel wanted process, not programs

PoliticsNH.com: The majority of questions and discussion at WMUR/ABC News's 90-minute debate Tuesday night, fell into two distinct topics -- political process and Iraq.

As moderators Ted Koppell and WMUR's Scott Spradling steered the first part of the debate towards questions about endorsements, campaign funds and polling results, Kerry, Kucinich and Sharpton took exception to the questions in their varying styles.

The largest applause line of the night took place after Kucinich lectured Koppel saying the debate lacked substance.

" We start talking about endorsements, now we're talking about polls, and then we're talking about money. Well, you know, when you do that, you don't have to talk about what's important to the American people," Kucinich said.

In contrast to previous debates, the nine Democrats in the University of New Hampshire's Johnson Theatre spent more time outlining their own platforms than they did attacking front-runner and former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean.
