Should I Stop Being a Digest?
More popular choices do not give digests of the news but provide links to the news with a fragment, one sentence or two sentence summary. Right now I am thinking of Buzzflash, The Hamster and Cursor.org.
Another choice is republishing the full story which several like Alternet and Common Dreams do.
Then there are the regular blogs who mix excerpts with commentary, Eschaton and Pacific Views for example. Daily Kos would be here although you can also read it for the readers comments.
And then there are the essayists, who write essays with perhaps links in the essays. Orcinus on the left worrying about the new rise of fascism - long essayists are more common on the right.
Most rare are the cartoons like Get Your War On.
The most popular seem to be the one sentence link and the communities where readers participate through comments. I mainly do the digests, some short links, very few essays, no comments.
I will be providing fewer whatever I do as I finally get a job.
