Political Updates

Obama's Amazing Money Machine - They like him, they really like him.

Andrew is disappointed in McCain's lack of honor and integrity.

I think this
is a not-so-smart conservative argument for inequality. Most of the comments are really stupid too.

Marc Ambinder: Keyser Soze Rules
- If this is the dynamic from here on out -- each day dominated by an outrageous accusation by the McCain campaign, and Obama forced to defend against each outrageous claim, well, Obama is probably going to lose.

Ta-Nehisi Coates: We should call this [McCain stuff] what [it] is -- whining, complaining and fake-ass outrage.

James Fellows: Will Palin, like Hillary, have to give up her pack-of-lies narrative?

Maureen Dowd:
we want to know everything, including:

What kind of budget-cutter makes a show of getting rid of the state plane, then turns around and bills taxpayers for the travel of her husband and kids between Juneau and Wasilla and sticks the state with a per-diem tab to stay in her own home?

Why was Sarah for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against the Bridge to Nowhere, and why was she for earmarks before she was against them? And doesn’t all this make her just as big a flip-flopper as John Kerry?

What kind of fiscal conservative raises taxes and increases budgets in both her jobs — as mayor and as governor?

When the phone rings at 3 a.m., will she call the Wasilla Assembly of God congregation and ask them to pray on a response, as she asked them to pray for a natural gas pipeline?

Does she really think Adam, Eve, Satan and the dinosaurs mingled on the earth 5,000 years ago?
Thomas Friedman - Obama needs to campaign simply and from the gut because he is losing a race he should win.

Bob Herbert: Ignorance must really be bliss. How else, over so many years, could the G.O.P. get away with ridiculing all things liberal?

NYT: New E-Newspaper Reader Echoes Look of the Paper. Getting closer everyday. (OK, this one wasn't politics but something that I have been predicting for a long time.)

McCain and Palin and GOP platform are more extreme on stem cell research than Bush.

Chron.com - We were Truly Screwed
. Oil Companies provided sexual favors and illegal drugs to Interior Department employees.

Reason.com - The Republican platform respects the Constitution — but only when it's convenient.

Give me a break - White House today claims bin Laden was not the true “mastermind” of the 9/11 attacks.

Judge warned Palin in 2005 to back off brother-in-law's job

McCain Slash and Burn Massive Lie Campaign Backfiring? More media, much more media, blasts McCain-Palin campaign for lies.

Do you guys even know what McCain is after. Obama wants to give hard working people's money to the poor people who wont get a job. Any one who wants to vote for Obama (Muslim)is just asking for another terrist attack. Obama wants to lower our defence and make us bait to other countries who want us dead.

Anony - See the Ignorance must be Bless link above.

1. Unless you make over $200,000 your taxes will be lower under Obama.

2. The economy will do better under Obama than McCain, based on long term trends that the economy always does better under Democratic Presidents. It is because trickle down doesn't work as well as tax policies that favor workers.

3. The United States has over one half of the entire world's defense spending. Who the Hell are you afraid of - the entire rest of the world?
