Ted Rall Answers Questions About Banned Cartoon

My earlier post has the cartoon that was banned from MSNBC sites.

Rall: "Tillman gave up millions of dollars. To that extent I think he's admirable, but the cause is not. ... He would have been a better person and a better husband if he took the $3.6 million and played football and left the poor and beleaguered people of Afghanistan and Iraq alone."

el - Rall bandies the word evil around too easily in the interview - misguided would be better. I can't even stay angry at Bush, he is not even really in charge and Bush is stuck at a low stage on Kohlberg's moral development ladder. I would guess somewhere between 2 and , to be really generous, 4.

"The second stage of this level is characterized by a view that right behavior means acting in one's own best interests.

"The second level of moral thinking is that generally found in society, hence the name "conventional." The first stage of this level (stage 3) is characterized by an attitude which seeks to do what will gain the approval of others. [Stage 4] is one oriented to abiding by the law and responding to the obligations of duty. "

What do you think, Self-interest, Fawning or Law-and-Order Prez?

The third level of moral thinking is one that Kohlberg felt is not reached by the majority of adults. Its first stage (stage 5) is an understanding of social mutuality and a genuine interest in the welfare of others. The last stage (stage 6) is based on respect for universal principle and the demands of individual conscience.

Stage 1 was obefience because of fear of being punished.
