US Troops Only Reprimanded For Abuse
Administration still trying to contain this story but guess how well just reprimands for this will go over.
Nightline was interesting as you could see the Army being set up to take the fall for Arab torture despite the commander of the Army unit not being allowed into that part of the prison run by military intelligence, CIA, and private contractors.
Iraq Abuse May Undermine U.S. 'War on Terror'
You might say that.
The Charlie Rose Show was devastating for the Bush administration. All analysts said the war is about over, the US military willl probably have to withdraw before elections can be held next year.
PBS was also pretty bad for Bush's war earlier - RAY SUAREZ: Forget it -- you mean like game over?
HISHAM MELHEM: Yeah, I think so.
The American Conservative - The Best of Bad Choices is to get out now. Pat Buchanan seconds that with the observation that we have just past the high tide of American Imperialism.
The Seymour Hersh aricle in the New Yorker - Captain Robert Shuck, Frederick?s military attorney, closed his defense at the Article 32 hearing last month by saying that the Army was ?attempting to have these six soldiers atone for its sins.? Similarly, Gary Myers, Frederick?s civilian attorney, told me that he would argue at the court-martial that culpability in the case extended far beyond his client. ?I?m going to drag every involved intelligence officer and civilian contractor I can find into court,? he said. ?Do you really believe the Army relieved a general officer because of six soldiers? Not a chance.?
I believe we lost the war just before and during Falujah and the Christian Science Monitor has a story on that - To Arabs, photos [just] confirm brutal US.
More people than just Baghdad Burning's Riverbend are wondering what is happening in the other wings. She writes that "my blood boils at the thought of what must be happening to the female prisoners."
General Odom: "We have already failed. Staying in longer makes us fail worse... And now we are in the situation where we have to limit the damage."
