DeLay confirmed to reporters that he had hired lawyers "in order to protect myself" both in Washington, where he is battling an ethics filing made by Rep. Chris Bell, D-Houston, and in Austin, where Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle is investigating corporate contributions to a DeLay-created political action committee, or PAC.
