Wrap-Up

There will be little posting this week so here are some thoughts to leave you with.

I am finding it fascinating to read the right wing blogs now:
"
But let's not let them [neo-cons] off the hook with their political Nirvana fantasies: The disaster in Iraq is national greatness conservativism in reality. This is what it REALLY looks like: Dangerous and irresponsible imperialism; massive killing of civilians; hundreds of billions of tax dollars squandered; daily assassinations of young American soldiers; stepped up terrorism; the whole world hates us; we are less safe from terrorism now; thousands of American parents and siblings knowing their loved ones died in vein; the trashing of civil liberties; the media have become one big pack of liars and deceivers in support of the state; real conservativism has been replaced by mindless, imperialistic, FreeRepublic lapdogism; and a lying, unprincipled, creepy socialist from Massachusetts will probably be the next president."
Who is still supporting Bush and keeping his poll numbers from free-falling? My most interesting anti-Bush email list is run by Charles Auld, who has voted Republican in every election since the 70's. Libertarians and their leaners have long abandoned Bush. If it is only the Evangelicals why is Bush now giving protesters the finger and Cheney using the f-word and saying it felt good? Are they trying to get back the Howard Stern vote?

Can Bush get a winning coalition with the hard-core GOP, militant cowboys, dividend clipping millionaires, mega-corporations, and Evangelicals waiting for the Apocalypse?

"We all need some therapy, because somebody came along and said "liberal" means soft on crime, soft on drugs, soft on Communism, soft on defense, and we're gonna tax you back to the Stone Age because people shouldn't have to go to work if they don't want to. And instead of saying "Well, excuse me, you right-wing, reactionary, xenophobic, homophobic, anti-education, anti-choice, pro-gun, 'Leave it to Beaver' trip back to the fifties," we cowered in the corner and said "Please, don't hurt me." No more."
